Event Highlights 2025
Among the new features of the 34th edition were the Scandinavian Days, the Spanish performance Don Quixote, a drumming show, and an impressive flash mob. The Partner Country and Region — Sri Lanka and the Łódzkie Voivodeship — showcased their flavours, serving dishes such as chicken biryani and Łódź-style zalewajka. The extensive offer of the Market Tour Tourism Fair and the accompanying zones confirmed that the 34th edition of Piknik nad Odrą was prepared to a very high standard.

The Largest Outdoor Travel Fair in Poland

This year’s Market Tour Travel Fair brought together 145 exhibitors showcasing a wide range of domestic and international travel offers. Visitors could explore booths representing 15 Polish regions and 9 countries from around the world. Among the international participants were representatives from Sri Lanka, Cuba, Tunisia, Spain, the Czech Republic, Germany, Bulgaria, and Cyprus, as well as Denmark and Sweden featured within the Scandinavian Days. The fair also hosted notable exhibitors such as the Raftsmen of the Pieniny Mountains, Kolejkowo from Wrocław, Hydropolis – the Water Knowledge Center, and ferry operators Unity Line, Polferries, and Finnlines. Numerous accommodation providers and Polish spa resorts also showcased their rich regional offerings.

A special highlight of this year’s edition was the presence of the Łódź Voivodeship – the Partner Region of the event. Their colorful booths stood out thanks to lively characters such as the devil Boruta, Łowicz folk dancers in traditional costumes, and displays of regional delicacies and crafts. One of the most popular attractions was the Borysew Zoo presentation, where children (and adults alike) could hold a giant snail in their hands.

The Partner Country of this year’s Piknik nad Odrą was Sri Lanka. Exhibitors from Colombo and other regions were dressed in traditional Sri Lankan attire – women in elegant saris and men in national tunics – adding authenticity and vibrant color to their display. Throughout the weekend, Sri Lankan dance performances drew large crowds, captivating the audience with rhythmic, expressive, and colorful shows.

The festival’s official opening ceremony on Saturday at 2:00 PM featured a performance by Sri Lankan artists and was inaugurated by:

  • Her Excellency Priyangika Dharmasena – Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Poland

  • Artur Ostrowski – Deputy Marshal of the Łódź Voivodeship

  • Marcin Biskupski – Deputy Mayor of the City of Szczecin

  • Jacek Janowski – Director of the Tourism Development Support Department, Polish Tourism Organization

  • Wojciech Heliński – President of the West Pomeranian Tourism Development Agency, organizer of Piknik nad Odrą

The Great Cooking Show – Two Days of Flavors That Drew the Crowds

As every year, the Great Cooking Show was one of the most anticipated highlights of Piknik nad Odrą. Held twice – on Saturday and Sunday – it attracted huge audiences both days. Long lines formed well before each tasting session, while the delicious aromas drifting across Wały Chrobrego lured in even more visitors.

On Saturday, guests were served Łódź-style zalewajka soup – a regional specialty made with sourdough, potatoes, vegetables, sausage, and bacon. Around 2,000 portions were distributed, with many praising its bold flavor and homemade character.

On Sunday, the culinary stage was taken over by Sri Lanka, where a Sri Lankan chef prepared chicken biryani – a fragrant, spice-rich dish with distinct notes of coriander, cinnamon, and ginger, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who tried it.
